Lesson 1 of 5

Generate your first envelope

6 min

Model the deemed-to-comply building envelope for a Victorian lot and read its four headline metrics.

The envelope is what makes Land Axis more than a planning map: it takes the zone, the schedule and the Victorian deemed-to-comply standards and draws the building form they allow on this specific lot, then reports the height, storeys, floor area and coverage that come out of it.

  1. 1

    Open the Envelope tab

With a parcel selected, choose "Envelope". Until it is generated the tab reads "Envelope not generated".

  2. 2

    Turn on the model

Switch on "Show on map" in the strip above the tab content. The envelope is calculated for the parcel's zone and drawn on the map.

  3. 3

    Read the confidence badge first

The first row shows either "Deemed to comply" or "Indicative only".

  4. 4

    Read the four headline metrics

  5. 5

Check what it was measured on

  6. 6

    Note mandatory controls

  7. 7

    Regenerate after changing the site
