BMO: Bushfire Management Overlay

Defendable space is a footprint cost, and the extent tracks state remapping rounds.

This page is not written yet, and we would rather say so

The rest of this library is built on things that can be pointed at — a clause, a number, a mechanism with a citation. This control has none of those written up yet. Publishing it now would mean filling it with general planning commentary that reads well and cites nothing, which is the failure the other pages exist to avoid.

What a written page has to answer
  1. 01The construction standard. Bushfire attack levels under AS 3959 drive the specification and most of the cost, and every figure has to be read from the standard itself rather than from a summary of it.
  2. 02Defendable space as a footprint cost. The land that has to stay cleared comes out of the developable area, and on a small or awkward lot that can change the typology — quantifiable, but only against stated inputs rather than in general.
  3. 03How the mapped extent tracks state bushfire-hazard remapping, so a lot can enter or leave the overlay between rounds. Saying that usefully means naming the cycle and telling a reader how to check whether theirs moved.

In the meantime, you can check a property directly. Search an address on the home page and read the zone and overlays recorded against that land, or run the numbers in the quick feasibility calculator. The pages that are written are on the control index for Victoria.
